About Me

About Me

Hi, I’m Lisa  founder of Empower Me Psychotherapy and Coaching, Mam to two teenagers and a dog named Waffle. I live in North County Dublin and bring both professional expertise and lived experience to my work.

I’ve always been drawn to working with people. After completing my Leaving Cert in 1994, I studied Social Studies at Athlone IT. Since then, I’ve worked in disability services across Ireland, England, and Scotland before moving into the area of supporting family carers to return to paid employment. My passion has always been helping others feel empowered in their lives — especially during times of change or challenge.

Just before the pandemic, I took a career break while one of my children was being assessed for dyslexia and ADHD. It became a time of reflection — a chance to pause and think deeply about the kind of work I truly wanted to do. As the world began to open up again, I returned to a role supporting family carers re-entering the workforce. That’s where I was first introduced to coaching — and I was instantly intrigued.

In 2022, I enrolled in a coaching course, which set me on a new path that eventually led to becoming both a qualified coach and psychotherapist.

Fast forward to 2025: I now work part-time in bereavement services and run my own private practice — both online and in-person in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin. I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about what’s going on in your life — whether that’s through coaching, counselling, or psychotherapy.

I believe that real connection and understanding come from both professional training and personal experience — and I bring both to every session.

Client Focus Areas

I work with adults who are navigating life’s challenges, transitions, and uncertainties — especially when they feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves. Some of the areas I support clients with include:

  • Caring for a loved one and experiencing carer fatigue, burnout, or identity loss

  • Career change, returning to work, or finding direction after a break

  • ADHD — whether living with it yourself or supporting a child or partner with a diagnosis

  • Grief and bereavement, including navigating life after loss

  • Life transitions such as separation, illness, or a shift in identity or purpose

  • Building confidence and self-worth after periods of stress, self-doubt, or burnout

Whether you’re processing something from the past or facing something new, I’m here to support you in finding clarity, confidence, and a sense of empowerment — at your own pace and in a way that feels right for you.
